For the first since its first administration in the USA in 1986, the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) was held at the Asian Culture Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 20, 2018 (GMT-8). NMAT-USA has been administered in the state of California in the past years. A total of fifty-nine (59) examinees out of the sixty-one (61) registrants took the test which was facilitated by CEM representatives headed by Dr. Maria Cynthia A. Alcantara (President) and Atty. Diosdado G. Madrid (Vice- Chair, CEM Board of Trustees)
Also present during the testing activity were Mr. Godfrey Vergara (CEM NMAT-USA Coordinator), Mr. David Knight (Asian Culture Center) and Mr. Calvin Fung (Founder/President, Asian Culture Alliance). Mr. Fung gave a short message to the examinees on their role in fostering Asian Culture as future medical students during the post test activities.
Simultaneously, CEM successfully administered the NMAT to a total of 14,162 examinees out of the 14,635 registrants from seven (7) test sites in the country on October 21, 2018. These sites include Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga.
NMAT is a standardized test developed and maintained by CEM since 1985. It designed to upgrade the selection of applicants seeking admission to Philippine medical schools pursuant to the Medical Act of 1959 requiring the NMAT as a prerequisite for admission in all medical schools in the country.
