Dr. Maria Cynthia Alcantara is the 4th president of CEM as of January 2017. Dr. Alcantara started with CEM as a researcher in 1991 until 1996. She then joined the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde until 2005. She rejoined CEM in 2007. She held the positions of Executive Officer, Director for Programs and Planning, and Senior Vice President. In 2010, she became the Registrar of Miriam College and later served as Quality Assurance Officer until 2016. She obtained a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of the Philippines in 2007.
Dr. Alcantara succeeds Dr. Lenore de la Llana-Decenteceo who was President of CEM from 2002 until 2016. Dr. Decenteceo was actively involved with the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) as a Trustee from 2008 until 2011, and as its President from 2012 until 2015. CEM is a member of the IAEA.
